Healing Out Loud: When Faith Meets the Struggle

Healing is not quiet work. It’s messy, raw, and sometimes downright exhausting. It’s one thing to know that God is working, but it’s another to keep showing up when life keeps throwing punches. Healing out loud means owning your process, even when it’s ugly, even when you feel like you should be further along, and especially when the struggle is loud.
Let’s be real—just because you have faith doesn’t mean life stops testing you. Bills still gotta be paid, people still act funny, and some days, the weight of it all feels unbearable. You pray, trust God, and then boom—another setback. And that’s when the doubt starts creeping in: “God, I thought I was healing? Why does it still hurt? Why does it still feel like I’m stuck?”
The Cocoon Stage: Where Faith Feels the Heaviest
I like to think of healing like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Everybody loves to talk about the transformation, the wings, the flying part—but they don’t talk about the cocoon stage. That middle part where you’re wrapped up, hidden, and feeling trapped in a process you can’t rush.
That’s where the real work happens, and nobody talks about how difficult it may be. That’s where God stretches you, breaks things off of you, and makes you into something new.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” – James 1:2-3
Pure joy? Let’s be honest—sometimes the trials feel more like pure chaos. But the scripture is a reminder that what you’re going through is building something greater in you. It’s not wasted.
Healing Hurts Before It Feels Good
Nobody tells you that healing doesn’t always feel like healing. Some days, it feels like grief, loneliness, frustration, and unanswered prayers. Some days, it feels like one step forward and ten steps back. But even when you don’t feel it, God is still moving.
• That person walking away? That’s protection.
• That unexpected delay? That’s alignment.
• That painful lesson? That’s preparation.
And when it feels like nothing is changing, remember: caterpillars don’t know when they will become a butterfly; they just sit in the dark, waiting.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
Being still doesn’t mean doing nothing—it means trusting that God is working, even when you can’t see it.
You Will Fly Again
One day, you’ll wake up, and the weight won’t feel as heavy. The tears won’t fall as often. The things that once broke you won’t even shake you. That’s transformation.
So, if you’re in the middle of your healing, don’t rush it. Cry when you need to. Pray even when you don’t have the words. And most importantly, keep believing—because one day, you’re going to wake up and realize you’re not crawling anymore. You’re flying.
Keep healing out loud, and understand that God is not done with you yet!
